Day Trips

Day trips are the most underrated kind of travel. No hotel to book. No suitcase to pack. No "are we leaving the dog at the kennel" math. Just a cooler, half a tank of gas, and a destination under 200 miles. The posts here cover day trips from Chicago and other Midwest hubs — state parks that earn the drive, small towns worth the lunch stop, lake beaches without the tourist tax. Most posts assume a 7 AM start and dinner-at-home end. The trips are written for adults, but the destinations almost all work with kids too.
